Alcodis is the only large scale producer of ethanol from the distillation of molasses, in the Indian Ocean Islands’ region. The project was initiated by Groupe Roland Maurel Ltée in November 2001, when Alcodis Ltd was incorporated. The plant is designed for an output of 30 million litres of ethanol, produced from the conversion of about 120,000 MT of molasses.
Bulk Ethanol Exports from Mauritius
• The plant became operational in 2004 and has shipped 3,500,000 litres in bulk.
• Exported to the EU Bio Fuel market
• 5,500 m3 dedicated storage and loading facilities in the Freeport
