Recruitment

Recruitment is done in all transparency and emphasis is laid not only on qualifications but also on experience and skills of the candidate.

We also encourage internal promotion - as such any vacancy occurring within the organisation is communicated first to our employees. We have recourse to external recruitment whenever we do not find the candidate profile within our personnel.

We have put in place an efficient system of “ On the Job Training’’ in line with our ISO procedures and this enables the recruit to settle rapidly within his new work environment.

Sex discrimination is inexistent at our workplace – in fact women occupy important functions in the organizational hierarchy. We have a stable labour force - the majority of our employees reckons long year’s service and has developed a strong spirit of belonging towards the Company.

Consequently Mauvilac labour force symbolizes a big and united family representative of the different strata of our multi-cultural society.

Social & Sport Activities

We believe that promotion of sport is indispensable for the integral development of our employees since it is not only the prime factor for good health but is also an excellent means to fight against divisions and propagate unity and the spirit of belonging.

Mauvilac has throughout its years of existence spared no effort to promote sport amongst its employees but also within the nation at large. The souvenirs of the ‘’Jeux des Iles de L’Ocean Indien” are still vivid in our memories and Mauvilac as a privileged sponsor did play an important part in its success. Our support has also been extended to horse racing, cycling races at the national level. We have also organized competitions for students at primary and secondary level in wall painting and renovated football playgrounds such as that of Quartier Militaire.

We participate fully in sport and other recreational activities organized at inter- firms level by the FMSC (Federation Mauricienne des Sports Corporatifs) and have sponsored on many occasions the Inter Firm Football Tournament. In 2003, we were Champions of the Inter Firms Football Competition and in 2004 we won the Interfirm Omnisports Competition. Mauvilac football team forms part of the Super League of the FMSC.

For our internal employees, we organize at the end of each year an Indoor game tournament – which attracts active participation of our personnel because it is a golden opportunity for directors, managers and other staff to indulge in such activities in an ambiance of unity and good humour.

Occupational Safety & Health

Management is fully committed to promoting safety and health amongst its personnel in line with the provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 2005. Over and above the legal aspects we believe that a safe and healthy work environment not only enhances productivity but most importantly reduces incident occurrence, boosts up the morale of the employees and triggers in them awareness about safety and health concepts which they can put to avail for their families and population at large.

The role of the Safety and Health Manager is to exercise general supervision regarding compliance with the provisions of the Act and to promote safety awareness and effective safety organisation at the work place.
